Terje Granvang

Granvang works primarily on cases involving dispute resolution and court advocacy for all areas of the business sector. He has extensive experience as legal counsel in major, fact-heavy and complex legal disputes, particularly those relating to directors’ and professional liability. He also assists in major dispute cases relating to commercial contract or company law. In directors’ liability cases, Granvang represents clients on either side. He has represented defendants in professional liability cases and auditors in several of the largest auditor liability cases in Norway.

Granvang has extensive experience of arbitration in Norway and abroad, as both legal counsel and judge. He has also participated in one of the most wide-ranging national arbitration processes undertaken in Norway.

Since 1990, Granvang has worked extensively in the field of lawyer and auditor liability, and assists several of Norway’s largest auditing firms on retainer. He is also a member of the Norwegian Institute of Public Accountants' legal panel in Norway, which assists auditors who have taken out liability insurance through the association with Tryg Forsikring as insurer. In addition, Terje is on the legal panel for Lloyds of London's liability insurance scheme for auditors in Norway.

Granvang is keen to provide clear and constructive advice and aims to keep his clients out of court. For over 20 years, he has lectured on the law of torts and public administration law at the University of Oslo’s Faculty of Law. He also teaches auditing law to postgraduate students at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH). Granvang was a member of the Audit and Auditors Act legal subcommittee and is a co-author of the annotated version of the new Audit and Auditors Act that came into effect on 1 January 2021.
