Odd-Harald B. Wasenden
Wasenden is acknowledged as one of Norway’s foremost legal experts in the field of renewable energy and climate law. He works on a broad front within energy law, contract law, securities trading and stock exchange law and environmental law. He is a Doctor of Laws from the University of Oslo and wrote his doctoral thesis on the energy market. He has over 20 years’ experience as a practising lawyer, with renewable energy as his specialist field.
Wasenden has considerable experience as an advisor in the energy sector and has assisted a number of Norwegian and international parties in contract law matters, regulatory issues, transactions as well as disputes. He also has extensive in-house experience from working at Statnett and Nasdaq.
Wasenden has wide-ranging and in-depth knowledge of industry and quickly familiarises himself with the framework conditions applicable to the various cases he works on. He is analytical and is able to see the legal, operational, political and technological perspectives of a case, in order to provide advice that really makes a difference for his clients.
Since May 2020, Wasenden has been affiliated with BI Norwegian Business School as an Adjunct Executive in Residence, where he focuses on the Executive Master in Energy Management programme.
He regularly publishes academic works of varying sizes on energy and climate law, and is often requested as a public speaker in various forums.
Wasenden has unparalleled competence in, and an understanding of Norwegian and European regulatory frameworks and conditions relating to the electrical power sector. He also has specialist expertise relating to financial market regulation and provides assistance in connection with energy trading, emission quotas and financial instruments. He also has a wide-ranging climate and environmental law practice and extensive experience of emission quota trading and CCS.
Odd-Harald Wasenden has a very good understanding of the functioning of the energy markets along with a deep knowledge of the regulation.
